President's Message

FGFOA President, Sarah C. Koser,

Summer is fast approaching and so is the end of my term as your President.  This has been a very busy year for FGFOA and seems to have gone by extremely fast

A few notable accomplishments for this year:

  • February, we held the first of the Divergent Series in Kissimmee.
  • The first stand-alone Boot Camp was held in March in Altamonte Springs.
  • The second Leadership FGFOA program was held in April in Orlando.
  • The FGFOA Website has been redesigned.
  • With the new Website design came changes to Facebook and the addition of Twitter and You-Tube.
  • The “Coaching Program” has been soft-launched with the official launch at the annual conference.
  • The Basic Government Resource Manual has been updated.
  • The CGFO Committee worked with FICPA to modify the CPA Ethics course so that it can be utilized as an option for CGFO Recertification (in lieu of the exam).

Those accomplishments are in addition to planning and working on all our signature programs like the CGFO, School of Government Finance, Annual Conference, not to mention the Technical Resources and Legislative Committees.

Whew, I am exhausted just looking at the list and thinking about all the hard work that was necessary to complete all of these items.  The Kudos for all of the above goes to our committee chairs, committee members, our Board of Directors and the League Staff.  None of these accomplishments would have been possible without all of their hard work and dedication.

Speaking of committees, there is still time to sign up to be involved next year in helping to serve your fellow FGFOA members.  Committee applications are available on line and We Need You!!!  What are you waiting for . . . get involved and be a part of the engine that makes this organization so great!

I want to thank you all for allowing me the honor and privilege of serving as your President this past year and on the Board of Directors for the past 8 years.  I treasure the time I have spent on the Board and getting to work alongside so many great leaders.  As Bob Hope would always sing, “Thanks for the Memories”!
